Ethiopian Pop-Up Lunch - Feast for Good! 2022
A heartwarming 3-course Ethiopian Lunch, with Tinsae Elsdon. Her food has been described as 'full of flavours and colours'. She was also featured on SBS Food's The Cook Up with Adam Liaw.
Ethiopian cuisine is unique. It revolves around injera - a soft, pancake-type, fermented bread that is the staple of most Ethiopian meals. Traditionally, Ethiopian dining is a shared experience where people gather around a large communal plate. Also, the Ethiopian spice mix called berbere makes Ethiopian food extra special.
The lunch will be followed by an Ethiopian coffee ceremony too. Vegetarian options are available.
We're also donating $10 from each ticket to Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia, a healthcare network of over 550 Ethiopian staff servicing six fistula hospitals. Your contribution can save an Ethiopian woman's life. Obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury that destroys a woman's life. Obstetric fistula is the most common devastating obstetric problem in Ethiopia. It can also lead to her own community shunning her.
Welcome Merchant is a social enterprise, 50% of the proceeds goes back to the migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker chefs we work with. The proceeds also help us run free capacity-building workshops for the refugee and asylum seeker community we support.
Huge thanks to our allies, Sample Coffee, for providing the space for us.
