Online Orchestral Music (1600-1900) Course with SYO 2024

Explore the inner workings of 400 years of Orchestral Music with some of Sydney's most experienced music educators with weekly programs delivered live, online, and accessible from anywhere in the world.

No need to audition.

No need to be an SYO Member.

A journey through music of the 17th,18th and 19th century, suited to all musicians aged 14-19 (Years 9-12). This course focuses on:

  • Score analysis

  • Rhythmic and melodic dictation

  • Sight-singing

  • Key paradigms of the period

  • Works of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms

  • Emergence of the symphonic form

A perfect preparation or extension course for those intending to, or who are currently studying International Baccalaureate (IB) Music, HSC Music 2* and/or Music Extension.

*Music (1600-1900) is a mandatory topic of HSC study for Year 11 Music 2.
