Luminous 2023

This exhibition is a family collective of female artists, mother and two daughters, exploring interpretations of light and radiance in their chosen mediums.

Angela Lober's contemporary natural history watercolours capture plants and insects with clarity and accuracy. Some of her works employ the ancient techniques of the Illuminated manuscripts painted on traditional vellum. Intensity of light, colour and iridescence inspire her work along with the magical wonder of nature.

Annika Karskens creates sculptural art and jewellery which capture iridescence in nature. Inspired by flora and insects, she seeks luminosity in everyday objects. Having centred her practice around the use of repurposed aluminium coffee capsules, she melds this engineered lustre with naturally occurring brilliance.

Claudia Karskens' acrylic landscapes explore luminescence in our everyday environments. Her series of streetscapes and nature captures a moment in time between sunrise and sunset.

The three artists in this exhibition capture the purity of light, celebrating it with quiet observation and meticulous detail.
