Sydney City Farm volunteer working bees 2021
City Farm - Volunteer session
Come and get hands-on volunteering at Sydney City Farm.
This is a great opportunity to get involved with Sydney City Farm and meet others in your community.
New volunteers are required to attend a mandatory induction before joining our regular volunteer sessions.
Volunteer sessions last for 1 ½ hours and are held on Thursdays, Fridays, and every second Saturday. Registration is essential.
Thursday and Saturday mornings are spent working on general farm activities in our cropping area. From watering and weeding to planting and harvesting, these sessions are great for new volunteers to get a taste for volunteering at the farm.
Friday mornings involve working in the plant nursery and depot area. Tasks include raising seedlings, collecting and processing seed, and caring for our small potted fruit trees. These sessions suit volunteers who want to develop plant propagation and nursery skills.
Saturday afternoons are for project work in the farm's orchard, floriculture, pollinator and agroforestry demonstration garden beds, and edible display gardens like the mini fruit forest and agricultural crops.
All volunteers are required to be fully Covid-19 vaccinated unless they have a medical exemption. Before volunteering you need to email a copy of your vaccination certificate or medical exemption certificate to: cityfarm@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au This is a one-off requirement. View our Privacy Protection Notification (if you have attended a volunteer induction from Thursday 2nd December 2021 onwards you will already have met this requirement)
No experience needed. Just bring a can-do attitude and we will show you everything you need to know. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and covered sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle and hat.
If you have any queries or concerns, please email: cityfarm@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au or call us on 92659333
