The Wisdom of Compassion: Inner Healing & Spiritual Strength 2024

Image
The Wisdom of Compassion presents key Buddhist teachings on the powerful logic of compassion and practical methods for developing a more kind relationship with ourselves, those around us and ultimately all beings. Our innate capacity for empathy is the source of the very best of human qualities: love, kindness, generosity, warm-heartedness, courage… compassion. Although we are born with a vast capacity to love, we may not know how to do so unconditionally, or how to express that love in practice. When our heart and mind are filled with love, we find the greatest inner healing, tranquillity and well-being. Modern research shows that with empathy and compassion we can be more fully ourselves, connect more easily with others, improve self worth and reduce self-criticism, and lead healthier lives. Participants in this course will learn how to: develop loving kindness for themselves extend that loving kindness to all beings move along the path from compassion to fully enlightened courage L

Homos, or Everyone in America by Jordan Seavey 2024

Image
In a supposedly 'post-gay' America, a booze-infused date in a New York bar sets two men on a rollercoaster ride of lust, love and the messy stuff in between. Taking place in Brooklyn and jumping around moments in time scattered between 2006 and 2011, this sexually blunt, emotionally raw and outrageously funny dramedy explodes the attitudes, desires and prejudices that sit at the heart of every romantic relationship, gay or straight. The age-old conflict between committed monogamy and sexual freedom must be navigated, the personal becomes the political, and we go deep into what it means to love to the point of heartbreak and beyond. Selected Photography & Printmaking Exhibition 2024

Image
Selected is an opportunity to see into the practice of 22 contemporary artist exploring and thriving in using the medias of printmaking and photography across 52 images on display. Photography and printmaking are similar in that they both have the capability to reproduce an image multiple times with very little variation in the resulting print. However, photography came about through the desire to create exact visual replicas of forms and scenes without manual intervention, while printmaking originally aided the production of photographic illustrations in books by providing a stronger, non-light sensitive ink. Despite this, the two can exist harmoniously together, and photography provides a whole spectrum of new techniques for the printmaker to use in their artworks. https://upnext.com.au/event/selected-photography-and-printmaking-exhibition-2024/ https://bit.ly/47ZNbf4 Check out our website https://upnext.com.au/sydney/ Check out our Vimeo channel https://vimeo.com/upnextsydney Check
